JEFFERIS SIGNS FOR SOUTHPORT F.C
Lancashire Evening Post- Friday, June 29, 1923
Frank Jefferis, the old Southampton-Everton and North land International inside right was this afternoon signed by Southport. Jefferis, who was " capped " against Scotland and Wales in 1912, is a native of Fordingbridge, and has had a successful career in first-class football. He went to Goodison Park from Southampton several season ago and rendered the Merseyside club excellent service. Jefferies was transferred to North End in the early part of 1920 at a £1,500 fee and was the means of building up North End's attack, in which he was the chief figure in the latter half of 1920-21 season, when the right way was one of the best in the country.  At the close of last season he was placed on the transfer list, and North End met a price of £5OO upon him, but the League subsequently reduced the figure to £250. Following the annual meeting of the North End club on Wednesday night, the directors at a private meeting decided to give Jefferis a free transfer, and the Southport secretary (Councillor E. Clayton) came over to Preston and signed him late this afternoon. Southport hare secured a lot of promising young forwards, andJefferis will sign for the club as player-coach.
